Neil Young cancels London show; Alien Ant Farm in fatal bus crash; Blur singer to perform free show in London; Pixies release demo album.
Neil Young was forced to cancel his second show at London’s Brixton Academy on Wednesday night (22nd) due to illness. The singer apparently contracted the flu following Tuesday night’s performance. Fans are advised to retain their tickets for the cancelled performance as plans are being made to reschedule the show for later in the year. A brief statement from the singer said, "To my friends, I am so sorry that I couldn't perform the second show at Brixton. I hope to see you when I return to Brixton, Neil Young."
Alien Ant Farm have been involved in a fatal bus crash in Spain while on tour in Europe. No members of the band are thought to be seriously injured. The band’s tour bus collided with a lorry in the early hours of Wednesday morning (22nd) as the band were headed to a show in Lisbon. The driver of the bus was killed in the crash, with band members Dryden Mitchell and Tye Zamora requiring hospital treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Blur singer Damon Albarn will perform acoustic tracks from his latest album Mali Music at London’s Tower Records, Piccadilly Circus on 28th May at 6 p.m. Albarn will be accompanied by collaborator Afel Boucoum.
The Pixies release a self-titled album of demos through SpinArt Records on 9th July. The demos were recorded in March 1987.
