US movie box office chart

Clones breaks $200 million mark, while Spider-Man climbs to number six on all time list.


Attack Of The Clones hung on to the top spot at the weekend, taking $61.2 million of the four-day holiday weekend. The movie also managed to break the $200 million mark, beating its predecessor The Phantom Menace to the double century by one day.

Spider-Man, meanwhile, became the sixth biggest movie of all time, pushing Forrest Gump into seventh place.

The week’s new movies, the thrillers Insomnia and Enough, and the animated Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron, all performed respectively but failed to worry the summer’s two big blockbusters.

Here’s how the chart looks. Figures are in millions and are for the weekend 24th to 27th May. Total grosses to date are in brackets.

1. Star Wars: Episode II – Attack Of The Clones $61.2 ($202.5)
